How to activate a Community Bank debit card

Start with the activation instructions attached to the new card. Use the phone number printed on the activation sticker or shown on the card carrier. Do not use a number found in an unverified search result, because several unrelated banks use the Community Bank name.

Have the card, the account holder’s identifying information, and the personal identification number available. The automated system may ask for card details and information used to confirm your identity. Follow the prompts, then make a purchase using the personal identification number if the instructions say this is needed to finish activation.

If there is no sticker, sign in through communitybank.net and look for card controls, card management, or activation. You can also call the number printed on the back of the card. If activation fails, check that:

  • You entered the new card’s details, not those of an expired card.
  • The bank has your current phone number and address.
  • The card is not locked in online banking.
  • You are contacting the bank whose full name appears on the card.

Choose the correct Community Bank

Community Bank, N.A., First Community Bank, Community Bank & Trust, New York Community Bank, Sound Community Bank, and Two Rivers Community Bank are separate institutions. A card issued in Baytown, Texas may also belong to a different bank from the one described on this page.

Use only the activation instructions supplied with your card or the official site named on your statement. This applies to Visa cards as well as other debit cards. If the card was received unexpectedly, do not activate it; contact the issuer using information from a statement or the back of a card you already trust.

Reset an online banking password

On the sign-in screen for the exact bank named on your statement, select the option for a forgotten password or sign-in help. Enter the requested user ID and identity details, then use the verification code or reset message sent to the contact information already on file.

If the code does not arrive, check blocked messages and confirm that you selected the correct Community Bank. After repeated failed attempts, stop guessing so the account is not locked further. Use the bank’s official recovery process or the contact details on your statement or card. The same steps generally apply when searching for a Community Bank, N.A. or First Community Bank password reset.

Pay a Community Bank credit card issued by Synchrony

First check the front and back of the card or a recent statement for the issuer and payment instructions. If Synchrony is named as the issuer or account servicer, manage the payment through Synchrony’s account service rather than the Community Bank debit-card portal.

Sign in to the issuer account, select the payment option, choose the bank account to use, and review the payment date and confirmation before submitting. If you cannot sign in, use the issuer’s password-recovery option. Keep the confirmation until the payment appears in account activity.
