NetGear Powerline or Wifi Extender
Manage your internet connection with NetGear Powerline wireless extenders through www.mywifiext.net. Enjoy surfing the internet in any area of your home with the NetGear Powerline or Wi-Fi extender. It gives you wide range of internet connection in your home and your business establishment. This wireless extender covers areas that do not have any signal or connection given by your routers and other access points.
Initially, you must have an existing Wi-Fi network installed in order for the NetGear Powerline Wi-Fi extender to work. The wireless internet connection extender device is attached to your routers to create a wider area of internet signal in your home. You can use your tablets, smartphones, and any handy device that can use Wi-Fi connection even on areas where there was no internet connection before you installed the unit.
The NetGear Powerline Wi-Fi extender is correctly installed when you notice that the signal on your detected internet connection turns green. Open any internet browser from your device where the unit is connected and you will be directed to mywifiext.net. Next, you need to set up the wireless extender following the instruction prompted on the screens of your device. You can use the IP address 192.168.1.250 to troubleshoot the signal in the event there are problems with the connection.

Is the Wi-Fi down or is the power out?
First, check whether lights, outlets, and other powered devices work. If the home has no power, the modem, router, and Wi-Fi extender cannot provide a connection. If electricity is working, look at the power lights on the modem, router, and extender.
Try another phone or computer on the same Wi-Fi network. If only one device is offline, turn Wi-Fi off and back on for that device. If every device is offline, the problem is more likely with the modem, router, internet provider, or local service.
If you use AT&T Internet or another provider, turn off cellular data before testing. Otherwise, your phone may silently use the mobile network and make the Wi-Fi appear to be working.
How to check Wi-Fi outage status
Use cellular data, if available, to sign in to your internet provider’s account at netgear.com. Open its outage or service-status area and confirm that the service address is correct. A general outage map may not show a problem affecting only your address or equipment.
If the account reports no outage, check the modem and router:
- Make sure their power and network cables are firmly connected.
- Restart the modem and wait for its normal status lights.
- Restart the router, then wait for Wi-Fi to return.
- Test near the router before testing through the extender.
If Wi-Fi works near the router but not near the extender, the provider’s service is probably reaching the home. Focus on the extender’s power, placement, and connection to the main network.
How to check a power outage near you
Look outside for dark streetlights or ask a nearby neighbor whether their power is also off. Then use cellular data to open your electric utility’s outage checker at netgear.com. Enter or select the service address and review the outage status, estimated restoration information, and any report already attached to the account.
If no outage appears, report the loss of power through the utility’s official outage tool. Have the service address and account holder’s name ready. A tripped breaker may affect only part of a home, but do not touch damaged equipment, wet electrical panels, or fallen wires.
What to do during a power outage
- Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed.
- Use flashlights instead of candles.
- Unplug sensitive electronics if power is flickering.
- Keep generators outdoors and away from doors, windows, and vents.
- Treat every fallen wire as live and stay well away from it.
After power returns, allow the modem and router several minutes to reconnect before restarting the extender. If electrical service is stable but Wi-Fi remains down on every device, check the internet provider’s status again. If only the extender remains offline, reconnect it to the main Wi-Fi network.
