How to fill out a check for a mobile payment
Use a check only if the payment instructions say checks are accepted. Before writing it, confirm the exact payee name and mailing details on the latest bill or payment notice. Do not guess or copy details from an old account.
- Write the current date on the date line.
- Write the approved payee name exactly as shown in the instructions.
- Enter the payment amount in the number box.
- Write the same amount in words on the long line. Draw a line through any unused space.
- Put the mobile number or account number on the memo line. Do not write a password, PIN, or full card number there.
- Sign the check using the signature your bank has on file.
Compare the number amount with the written amount before mailing the check. A missing signature, an incorrect payee, or mismatched amounts can delay or reject the payment. Keep a photo or record of the completed check and any payment slip.
Check a MyPrepaid card or gift balance
First identify the card issuer. Look for the issuer name, a balance-check instruction, or customer-service information printed on the card or its packaging. A general prepaid gift card may be managed by a different company than a wireless prepaid account.
For an AT&T prepaid account, sign in through att.com and look for the account balance or payment activity. For a separate prepaid or gift card, use only the balance method printed on that card. Have the card available, because the issuer may request the card number, expiration details, and security code.
If the balance is missing or does not match your records, review recent transactions for pending charges, reversals, or an unsuccessful reload. Do not repeatedly submit the card while a transaction is pending. Contact the issuer shown on the card if the balance still appears wrong. Never share a one-time code, password, or PIN with someone who contacts you unexpectedly.
Confirm whether a mobile payment was received
After making a mobile payment, save the confirmation screen, email, or text. Check the payment history and account balance rather than relying only on a bank alert. A bank transaction can be pending even when the account has not yet credited the payment.
If service or balance information has not updated, confirm that the payment was applied to the correct mobile number. Avoid sending the payment again until its status is clear, since that can create a duplicate charge. When asking support to investigate, provide the payment date, payment method, mobile number, and confirmation or reference number. Hide full card and bank details.
Find the right tracking or reference number
A paid transaction usually has a confirmation, receipt, or reference number. A tracking number normally applies to a shipped card or device. They are not interchangeable.
- For a payment, check the receipt, confirmation message, or payment-history entry.
- For a shipment, check the shipping notice and carrier details.
- If no number appears, search messages using the order date or the last digits of the mobile number.
A payment reference may help support locate a transaction, but it may not show shipping progress. If a tracking number is not recognized, confirm that it was entered without extra spaces and that the carrier has had time to record the package.
