Where to Sign In to U.S. Bank
Open {site} and select Log in. This takes you to the official U.S. Bank online banking sign-in page. If you use the mobile app, open the U.S. Bank app already installed on your device.
Do not sign in through a link from an unexpected email, text message, online ad, or search result. A fake page may copy the bank’s name and design to steal your username, password, or security code. When in doubt, close the page and start again from {site} or the official app.
Check that the page identifies U.S. Bank and that your browser shows a secure connection. A padlock alone does not prove that a page belongs to the bank, so use a trusted bookmark rather than relying only on its appearance.
How to Change Your Password
If you know your current password, sign in before starting the U.S. Bank password change. Have your current password and proposed new password ready.
In online banking:
- Select Profile & settings, then Manage profile & settings.
- Select Edit login preferences.
- Choose Edit beside Password.
- Enter your current password.
- Enter the new password twice.
- Select Update password.
In the U.S. Bank Mobile App:
- Open the main menu and select Security center.
- Select Update password, then Change password.
- Enter your current password.
- Enter the new password twice.
- Select Update password.
After completing the U.S. Bank change password process, update the saved entry in your password manager. A browser or password manager may continue filling the old password, which can make a successful change appear to have failed.
How to Reset a Forgotten Password
Use account recovery instead of repeatedly guessing. On the online banking login page, select Forgot username or password.
If you know your username:
- Enter the username and select Continue.
- Enter the last four digits of your Social Security number.
- Choose an available verification method.
- Complete the identity check and create a new password when prompted.
If you also forgot your username, choose I don’t know my username. Enter the last four digits of your Social Security number, select a verification method, and enter the six-digit security code sent by U.S. Bank. Your username will then be displayed. Choose Reset password if you also need a new password.
In the mobile app, select Get login help from the login page. The official process asks for your phone number and the last four digits of your Social Security number, then sends a six-digit security code. After verification, you can view your username and select Reset password.
Only enter a security code in the recovery screen you opened yourself. Do not give the code to a caller or anyone who contacts you unexpectedly.
Password Requirements and Common Errors
A U.S. Bank online banking password must:
- Contain 8 to 24 characters.
- Include at least one letter and one number.
- Contain no spaces.
- Use only supported special characters: tilde, exclamation point, dollar sign, caret, parentheses, hyphen, equals sign, plus sign, closing brace, vertical bar, semicolon, colon, greater-than sign, at sign, number sign, and ampersand.
The bank may reject a password if it was used before, contains three identical letters or numbers in a row, includes your username, or uses the word “Password.” Retype both new-password fields carefully and remove any accidental space copied at the beginning or end.
If verification fails, confirm that the username, phone number, and requested Social Security number digits match the bank’s records. Request a new code if the screen offers that option, and enter only the newest code. Check that your device can receive messages and that you selected an available verification method.
If the account appears locked, stop making guesses. Return to the official recovery option or contact U.S. Bank. Repeated attempts with an old saved password can add confusion, so clear the filled password before trying again.
Contact U.S. Bank for Sign-In Help
Use the verified support information displayed on this page when recovery does not work. Ask for online banking technical support for website problems or mobile banking technical support for app problems.
Contact support if you cannot access the phone or verification method on file, your identity details are rejected, no security code arrives, the account remains locked, or you suspect somebody changed your login information. A representative may need to verify your identity before discussing the account.
Never use contact details supplied in an unexpected message. Do not send your password, full Social Security number, or one-time security code by ordinary email or text.
Protect Your Online Banking Account
Create a password used only for U.S. Bank. A password manager can generate and store a unique value so you do not have to reuse one from email, shopping, or social accounts.
- Keep your primary phone number and email address current so account recovery reaches you.
- Turn on available two-step verification, login notifications, and security alerts.
- Keep the U.S. Bank app, browser, and device software updated.
- Sign out after banking on a shared device.
- Review account activity after an unexpected password-reset message.
Treat urgent messages asking you to verify an account, reveal a security code, or move money as suspicious. Do not click their links or open attachments. Start a separate session through the official site or app and check the account there. If you see a password change you did not make, contact U.S. Bank through a verified support channel immediately.
