UNE Online Login and Account Access Help
Official UNE Online Login
UNE Online is the College of Professional Studies at the University of New England. Confirm that the page identifies the University of New England in Maine before entering account information.
Open {site} and use the current-student or student-resources area to reach the official sign-in option. Enrolled students use UNE’s single sign-on portal to open services such as UNE Compass and the Brightspace learning system. Applicants should use the returning-applicant portal instead.
Do not use a page simply because it appears in a search result or advertisement. The official portal should identify UNE and present its secure single sign-on process. If you are unsure which portal applies, return to {site} and follow the navigation for your account type.
How to Sign In
For an enrolled student UNE online account login, have your Nor’Easter ID or full UNE email identifier, password, and multifactor authentication method ready.
- Open UNE’s official single sign-on page from the university site.
- Enter your Nor’Easter ID or full UNE email identifier in the username field.
- Continue through the multifactor authentication prompt.
- Enter your password and select Verify or the displayed sign-in button.
- Choose the tile for the service you need, such as UNE Compass or Brightspace.
Some services open automatically after UNE sign in, while others may ask for the same UNE credentials again. If you started but have not submitted an application, choose the returning-applicant portal and enter the email address and password used for that application.
New enrolled students must first use the account-activation message sent by UNE. That process asks the student to enter a Nor’Easter ID, create a password, and set up multifactor authentication. Follow only the activation message you expected from UNE.
Forgotten Username or Password
Your enrolled-student username is your Nor’Easter ID. UNE states that new students can find their Nor’Easter ID in the applicant portal and in their admitted-student materials. A full UNE email identifier is also accepted on the single sign-on page.
If you cannot locate your Nor’Easter ID, contact the UNE Information Technology Services Help Desk. UNE does not publish a separate self-service username lookup for the main single sign-on account, so do not guess repeatedly.
To reset a forgotten password:
- Open the official single sign-on page.
- Complete the initial multifactor authentication step if requested, then select Forgot password.
- Choose an offered recovery method. UNE confirms recovery by an email message or an Okta Verify prompt.
- Follow the received instruction, create a new password, and select Reset Password.
- Return to the portal and try the UNE account log in with the new password.
If the recovery message does not arrive, check spam and other filtered folders. Applicants should use Forgot Your Password on the returning-applicant portal rather than the enrolled-student reset process.
Fix UNE Login Problems
First, check that you chose the correct account type. An applicant password may not work in the enrolled-student single sign-on portal, and UNE credentials may not work in the returning-applicant portal.
- Retype the username and password instead of using saved entries. Check capitalization, spaces, and keyboard settings.
- Try the Nor’Easter ID or full UNE email identifier when signing in through single sign-on.
- If a saved password is outdated, delete it from the browser’s password manager and enter the current one.
- Enable JavaScript and cookies, then reload the page. Try a private window or another current browser if the form does not respond.
- Clear UNE-related browser data if the page repeatedly returns to the login screen.
- If multifactor authentication fails, confirm that the enrolled device has a connection and that its date and time are correct.
- If your usual authentication device is unavailable, ask the ITS Help Desk about temporary access.
Stop repeated attempts if the account appears locked. Wait for any message shown by the portal, then use password recovery or contact ITS. If several UNE services fail at once, the cause may be a temporary service interruption; try again later and report the issue if access remains unavailable.
Account Security
Start every UNE log in from the official university site or a bookmark you created after confirming the portal. Check that the page identifies the University of New England and uses the expected UNE single sign-on screen.
- Do not share your password or multifactor authentication code.
- Approve an authentication prompt only when you have just tried to sign in to UNE account services.
- Use Remember Me only on a device that belongs to you and is not shared.
- Sign out through the account menu when finished. UNE states that signing out of single sign-on also ends connected application sessions in that browser.
If you notice an unfamiliar authentication request, account change, or activity, deny the request, reset your password through the official portal, and contact the ITS Help Desk. Sign out of active sessions and review your registered security methods when access is restored.
Contact UNE Support
Contact the UNE Information Technology Services Help Desk for failed password recovery, an unknown Nor’Easter ID, a locked account, missing multifactor access, or a technical problem with single sign-on. Use the verified contact block on this page or the ITS section of UNE’s official site.
For a Brightspace course-access problem after sign-in succeeds, also notify your instructor and UNE Online Student Support Specialist. For an application-portal access problem, contact UNE Online admissions or the enrollment team associated with your program.
When requesting help, state which portal you used, what happened after selecting UNE account sign in, and the exact error wording. Never send your password or an authentication code. Support may ask for identifying information to confirm that the account belongs to you.
