Start the UMW Password Reset

Open {site} and look for the official Passwords area or UMW Password Manager. Select the option to change your NetID password. This is the official starting point for an UMW password reset.

Before you begin, have your full UMW email address and your current, last working, or temporary password ready. UMW identifies the account through the full email address on the password-change form. A temporary password provided by the Help Desk can be used on this form, but it cannot be used to sign in to regular UMW services.

Make sure you are working with the correct account. Your NetID alone and your full email address are related, but a form may specifically request the full email address. If you do not know your NetID or email address, use the account-identification help in the official UMW site or contact the Help Desk.

Reset a Forgotten Password

UMW’s published self-service form requires an old, last working, or temporary password. It does not provide a verified public process that sends a forgotten-password link to a recovery address. If you forgot the password completely and have no working or temporary password, contact the UMW Help Desk first.

  1. Ask the Help Desk for assistance with a forgotten NetID password.
  2. Complete the identity checks requested by the support representative. Never send an existing password to anyone.
  3. Obtain the approved recovery instructions or temporary password from the Help Desk.
  4. Return to the official UMW Password Manager and choose the NetID password-change option.
  5. Enter your full UMW email address and the temporary password in the fields provided.
  6. Create a new password that satisfies every requirement displayed on the form, then enter it again in the verification field.
  7. Submit the change and read the confirmation or error message before closing the page.

This is the safest answer to “how to reset UMW password” when the current password is unknown. Avoid unofficial recovery pages or instructions that claim to bypass UMW’s identity check.

Change a Known or Expired Password

If you know the current password, use the UMW Password Manager directly. The same process applies when a sign-in attempt says the password has expired.

  1. Open the official Passwords area from {site}.
  2. Select the option to change your NetID password.
  3. Enter the full UMW email address associated with the account.
  4. Enter the current or last working password in the old-password field.
  5. Enter a new password that meets the requirements shown on the page.
  6. Type the new password again in the verification field.
  7. Submit the form and wait for a success message.

If the form reports an error, review each field and the on-screen password requirements, then try again carefully. Do not repeatedly submit the same rejected information, because repeated failed attempts can lock the account.

If the Reset Link or Verification Does Not Work

UMW’s verified NetID procedure uses its password-change form rather than a general emailed reset-link process. If you expected a message but did not receive one, confirm that the message was actually part of instructions issued by the UMW Help Desk. Check spam or junk folders, but do not trust a message that asks you to disclose your password.

  • Username is not recognized: Check that you entered the full UMW email address requested by the form. If you are unsure of the NetID or account address, use the official account-identification help or contact the Help Desk.

  • No verification message arrives: Confirm the recovery process with the Help Desk. Do not keep requesting messages through an unverified page.

  • A link has expired: Return to the approved instructions or ask the Help Desk to restart recovery. Do not alter or reuse an expired link.

  • The account is locked: Stop repeated sign-in and reset attempts. Contact the Help Desk if access does not return or the lock message remains.

  • No recovery method is available: The Help Desk must verify the account holder and provide the supported next step.

Sign In With the New Password

After the form confirms the change, open the UMW service you originally needed and sign in with the appropriate username and the new NetID password. UMW states that the NetID password is used for multiple UMW systems and is synchronized with the account’s email password.

If email asks for a username, use the full UMW email address rather than only the NetID. Other UMW services may label the username differently, so follow the prompt on that service’s official sign-in screen.

A successful sign-in confirms that the password reset UMW process worked. If one service accepts the password but another does not, close any old sessions, carefully enter the new password again, and make sure you are using the expected username. If the problem continues, report which service works and which one fails when contacting support.

Contact UMW Account Support

Contact the UMW Help Desk when you have forgotten the password and lack a temporary one, cannot identify the account, cannot use an available recovery method, remain locked out, or continue receiving an error after following the official form.

Use the verified support contact displayed on this page. Have your name, NetID if known, full UMW email address, your relationship to UMW, the name of the service you cannot access, and the exact error message ready. Mention whether the password is forgotten, expired, or rejected after a recent change.

Do not provide your current or new password. Support may request other identifying details through its approved verification process, but UMW warns that its personnel will not ask for your password. Giving a clear description of the failed step will help the Help Desk distinguish an account-password reset from a problem affecting only one service.
