Track a Package: Status and Delivery Updates
What You Need to Track a Package
Find the tracking number in the shipping confirmation, order details, receipt, or message from the sender. It may be labeled “tracking number,” “tracking ID,” or “shipment number.” Copy the complete number so you do not confuse letters and digits.
You also need the name of the carrier handling the shipment. Look beside the tracking number in the shipping notice or order details. If no carrier is shown, ask the sender which carrier accepted the package. A retailer or marketplace may use one carrier first and another for final delivery, so check for a second tracking number as well.
Searches such as “track pakage,” “pakage tracking,” “track my pakage,” and “tracking pakage” usually mean package tracking. “Pakage” is a misspelling, not the name of a shipping company.
How to Track Your Package Online
- Copy the tracking number from the shipping notice or order details.
- Identify the carrier named beside that number.
- Open {site}, or find the carrier’s official tracking page through its official site.
- Select the tracking option.
- Paste or carefully type the complete tracking number into the tracking field.
- Select the button that displays the shipment status.
- Review the latest scan, location, delivery progress, and any instructions shown.
You normally do not need to sign in for a basic status check. Signing in may show shipments connected to your account, but the tracking number is still the most direct way to find one package.
If you searched “track a pakage,” “how to track a pakage,” “how to track pakage,” or “track your pakage,” use the same steps above. Correcting the spelling to “package” can make the carrier’s official tracking option easier to find.
What Package Tracking Statuses Mean
Label created means the sender prepared shipping information. The carrier may not have received or scanned the package yet.
In transit means the package is moving through the carrier’s network. It may pass through several facilities, and every movement may not produce a visible scan.
Out for delivery means the package was assigned for delivery. It does not guarantee delivery at a particular time.
Delivered means the carrier recorded the shipment as delivered. Check the tracking details for a location, time, photo, signature, or other proof when available.
Delayed means the shipment encountered an issue or is progressing later than previously expected. Follow any instructions in the official tracking details.
Delivery attempted means the carrier tried to deliver but could not complete the delivery. The status may include instructions for another attempt, pickup, or identity verification.
A location shown in tracking may be a sorting facility rather than the package’s current street location. An estimated delivery date can also change as new scans are recorded.
If the Tracking Number Does Not Work
Compare the number with the original shipping notice. Remove extra spaces and punctuation unless they appear in the original. Check characters that look alike, such as zero and the letter O, or one and the letter I. Pasting the number often prevents typing mistakes.
A newly issued number may not work immediately because the shipping label exists before the carrier records its first scan. Check the order details later for an updated number or carrier name.
Make sure you are using the correct carrier’s tracking tool. If the shipment changed carriers, try the newest tracking number shown in the order details. Do not enter an order number unless the sender specifically identifies it as a tracking number.
Terms such as “tracking a pakage,” “track pacjage,” “track a pacjage,” and “track my pacjage” contain spelling errors and do not identify a carrier. Find the actual carrier in the sender’s message. Contact the sender if the carrier or number is missing. Contact the carrier through its official support options if the number is recognized but produces an error you cannot resolve.
If Tracking Has Not Updated
Start by checking the date and place of the latest scan. Confirm that you are viewing the newest tracking number, especially if the package was transferred between carriers. Refresh the official tracking page and compare it with the shipment details in your account or shipping confirmation.
Missing scans do not always mean the package stopped moving. A package can travel between facilities without every step appearing in customer-facing tracking. Weather, transportation problems, sorting issues, or an unreadable label can also affect updates.
Read any alert attached to the shipment and follow only the instructions shown by the carrier or sender. If the status remains unchanged and provides no useful direction, contact the sender or use the carrier’s official support channel. Have the tracking number, sender name, destination ZIP code, and latest scan details ready. Do not send sensitive account or payment information through an unverified message.
If a Package Says Delivered but Is Missing
Open the detailed tracking record and check the recorded delivery location. Look at the front door, side or back entrance, porch, garage area, parcel locker, mail area, reception desk, and any secure place where deliveries are normally left.
Ask household members whether they brought it inside. If appropriate, check with nearby neighbors, building staff, a mailroom, or a front desk. Make sure the shipping address in the order is correct.
Review any available proof of delivery, such as a photo, signature, delivery note, location description, or locker instructions. A photo may help identify a different entrance or nearby property. Do not enter private property while searching.
If you still cannot find the shipment, report the issue through the carrier’s official support option and notify the sender. Keep the tracking number, delivery notice, order details, and any proof of delivery available. Follow the case or claim instructions supplied by the sender or carrier; the required process depends on who shipped the package and how delivery was recorded.
