How to Send a Tracking Number
Find the Tracking Number
Start with the account, message, or receipt connected to the shipment. A tracking number is usually added after the order has shipped, so an order number shown before shipment may not be the number you need.
Open {site}, sign in to the official account, and look for Orders, Shipments, or Order History. Select the correct order, then open its shipment details. Look for a field labeled Tracking Number, Track Shipment, Shipment Details, or a similar name.
You may also find the number in one of these places:
- The shipping confirmation email or text message.
- The order details or shipment-status screen in the official account.
- A printed receipt from the sender or shipping location.
- A label receipt or other shipment document.
Search confirmation messages using the order number, recipient name, or words such as shipped and tracking. Check the spam or junk folder if the shipping confirmation is not in the main inbox.
A receipt may show several identifiers. Do not assume that an order number, receipt number, reference number, or payment confirmation number is the tracking number. Use the identifier specifically labeled for tracking.
Confirm the Number Is Correct
Before you send tracking number details, make sure you have the complete number for the right package. This matters when one order was divided into multiple shipments or several packages were sent around the same time.
- Open the shipment details, not only the general order summary.
- Check the recipient name or delivery destination shown for that shipment.
- Compare the shipment date and item details with the package you mean to share.
- Press and hold the tracking number, then choose the copy option if available.
- Paste it into a temporary message and compare the first and last few characters with the official record.
Copy every character. Do not add or remove spaces, letters, or leading zeroes. If the number wraps onto two lines on a receipt, check carefully that you copied both parts in the correct order.
If there are several tracking numbers, identify which package each one belongs to. Send all relevant numbers with a short label rather than making the recipient guess.
Send the Tracking Number
How to send a tracking number depends on what the shipment page provides. Some official shipment pages have a Share, Send Updates, or similar option. Select it, confirm that the correct shipment is displayed, choose the recipient or sharing method, and review the message before sending.
If there is no sharing option, copy the complete number and paste it into a text message or email. Add enough context for the recipient to recognize the shipment.
A clear message can say that the package has shipped, identify the order or package in general terms, and place the tracking number on its own line. If the recipient asked, “Send me the tracking number,” “Send me tracking number,” or “Send me a tracking number,” reply in the same conversation so the request and response stay together.
After pasting, compare the number with the official shipment details one more time. If your messaging app turns the number into a link automatically, check that none of its characters changed. A screenshot can be harder to copy and may expose extra order information, so plain text is usually easier for the recipient to use.
Include the Tracking Link
An official tracking-page link can save the recipient from entering the number manually. When the shipment details include Share, Copy Tracking Link, or a similar option, use that control and paste the result into the message.
Open the shared link yourself before sending if you can do so safely. Confirm that it shows the intended shipment without revealing account-only information. Do not create a link by guessing an address, and do not use an unofficial tracking page.
If no link-sharing option appears, send tracking number text by itself. The recipient can open the carrier or service’s official tracking area and enter it there. A correct number is more useful than a questionable link.
If the Tracking Number Is Missing
A tracking number may be unavailable while an order is still being prepared. Check the shipment status in the official account. If it says the order has not shipped, look again after the status changes rather than sending an order number as a substitute.
Review the original order confirmation and later shipping messages. A shipping confirmation may arrive separately, especially when an order has more than one package. Also check whether the sender used a different email address or phone inbox for notifications.
If the status says shipped but no number appears, return to {site} and use the official Help, Contact Us, or Support section. Have the order number, shipment date, sender name, and recipient name ready. Ask support where the tracking information appears or whether tracking was issued for that shipment. Do not rely on contact details copied from an unrelated message or search result.
If another person created the shipment, ask that sender to check the receipt or official account. A direct request such as “Please send me tracking number details from the shipment confirmation” makes clear which information you need.
Protect Account and Order Information
Only share what the recipient needs to identify and follow the shipment. Usually, that means the tracking number, a brief package description, and an official tracking link when one is available.
Never include an account password, one-time verification code, payment card details, bank information, or account recovery answer. Official support should not need those secrets just to help locate shipment information.
Review screenshots and forwarded emails before sending them. Crop or remove unrelated addresses, payment details, account identifiers, and details about other orders. Confirm the recipient carefully, especially when names or message threads look similar.
If someone unexpectedly asks you to sign in through a message or provide a verification code before they can track the package, stop. Open the official account separately and check the shipment there. Send only the verified tracking number or the official link offered on that shipment page.
