Reset a Forgotten Passcode

Before You Reset Your Passcode
Gather the account information you normally use to sign in. This may include your username, account email address, or registered phone number. Enter only details you know belong to the account.
You may also need access to a recovery method already connected to the account. Check whether you can open the registered email inbox or receive messages on the registered phone. Keep the device you normally use nearby because the account recovery process may ask you to confirm your identity.
Before starting, make sure your device has a reliable connection. If possible, use a familiar device and browser. Do not begin a passcode reset on a shared or public device unless you can sign out completely and remove any saved account information afterward.
If you have made several unsuccessful attempts, stop guessing. Repeated attempts may trigger a temporary security restriction. Instead, use the recovery option displayed by the official sign-in page.
How to Reset Your Passcode Online
Use the recovery process shown on the official site. Button names can differ, so follow the labels displayed for your account rather than relying on instructions from an unverified message or search result.
- Open {site} and go to the account sign-in area.
- Select the option for a forgotten passcode, trouble signing in, or account recovery.
- Enter the account detail requested on the page. Check it carefully before continuing.
- Choose one of the recovery methods offered for your account. Only methods already available on the official page should be used.
- Complete the identity check using the instructions shown. If you receive a code or reset message, use it only on the official recovery page.
- Create a new passcode that meets every requirement listed on the screen. Avoid reusing the passcode that stopped working.
- Submit the change and wait for the page to confirm that the reset passcode was accepted.
Complete the process in one browser session when possible. Opening several reset requests can make it difficult to tell which code or reset message is current.
If You Cannot Receive a Verification Code
First, check the recovery choices displayed on the official page. Your account may show another registered method. Use an alternative only if you still control it and the page offers it directly.
If an email message is expected, check the spam, junk, and filtered folders. Confirm that the inbox can receive new mail and that you entered the address connected to the account. If a phone message is expected, check the signal, message filtering, and whether the displayed ending digits match a number you recognize.
Do not keep requesting codes in quick succession. A newer request may make an earlier code unusable. Use the most recent code you received and enter it exactly as shown.
If you no longer control any registered recovery method, look for an official account-recovery or identity-verification option. Supply only the information the official process requests. If no alternative appears, move to official support rather than guessing answers or creating a second account.
Passcode Reset Problems
If a reset link does not open, return to the official sign-in area and start a fresh passcode reset. An older link may already have been used, replaced, or become invalid. Avoid copying extra spaces or punctuation when entering a code manually.
If the verification code is rejected, check that it came from your latest request and was entered for the correct account. Keep the recovery page open while checking the message. Request one new code only if the current one still fails.
If the new passcode is not accepted, read every requirement shown beside the entry field. Check its length and any required character types. Make sure both passcode fields match exactly. Phone keyboards can add capitalization, spaces, or automatic corrections, so review the entry before submitting it.
If the page freezes or repeatedly returns to sign-in, close duplicate tabs and try the official recovery page again. You can also restart the browser or use its private browsing mode. Do not disable important device security settings or install software suggested by an unknown source.
Contact Support for Account Access
When self-service recovery fails, open {site} and find the official Help, Support, Contact, or Account Access section. Choose the topic that most closely matches a forgotten passcode, unavailable recovery method, locked account, or failed identity check.
Before contacting support, note the exact message shown on the screen and the step where the problem occurred. Have your account identifier and any non-sensitive details needed to locate the account ready. Support may need to confirm account ownership before changing access.
Never send your current or previous passcode, a complete verification code, or other secret sign-in information in a general message. Use only the secure process provided by official support. Anyone who asks you to move the conversation to an unofficial channel or share a code should not be trusted.
After Resetting Your Passcode
Return to the official sign-in area and enter the same account identifier with the new passcode. Type it manually the first time. A browser or password manager may still fill in the old passcode, which can make a successful reset appear to have failed.
After signing in, review the account’s security settings. Confirm that the recovery email address and phone number shown there are current, removing old methods only through the options provided. Review recent account activity if that feature appears, and sign out of devices or sessions you do not recognize.
Store the new passcode in a secure password manager or another protected place. Do not reuse it for unrelated accounts. If you did not request the passcode reset or notice unfamiliar changes, use the official security and support options immediately.
