Where to Request an App Store Refund
Use Apple’s official Report a Problem page to start an App Store refund request. Open {site}, find the refund or purchase-help option, and continue to the Report a Problem page.
Sign in with the Apple Account used for the app or in-app purchase. This matters even if another Apple Account is currently signed in on your device. Apple shows transactions connected to the account entered on the refund page.
Before signing in, have the following details ready:
- The name of the app or in-app purchase.
- The Apple Account connected to the transaction.
- The approximate transaction date.
- The Apple receipt or invoice email, if available.
This is the official place to request a refund for an App Store purchase. Do not give your password or verification code to an unofficial refund service.
How to Submit the Refund Request
After signing in, follow these steps to request an App Store refund:
- Open the menu labeled “I’d like to.”
- Select “Request a refund.”
- Choose the reason that best describes the problem.
- Select “Next.”
- Choose the app, subscription, in-app purchase, or other item connected to the request.
- Select “Submit.”
Review the selected item before submitting. Apps and in-app purchases can have similar names, especially when several transactions were made close together.
Choose the most accurate reason shown in the form. Add information only when the page asks for it. Apple reviews each request, and submitting the form does not guarantee approval.
If you need to request a refund for more than one App Store purchase, check whether the form allows you to select the relevant items. Keep each request tied to the correct transaction and reason.
Check the Status of a Refund Request
To track an existing request, return to the same official Report a Problem page and sign in with the Apple Account that submitted it. Select “Check Status of Claims.” Then select “Pending” to view the request details.
If “Check Status of Claims” does not appear, Apple does not currently show a pending refund request for that account. Confirm that you signed in with the correct Apple Account and that the original form was successfully submitted.
The page may show that a request is still pending or display Apple’s decision once the review is complete. Read any message attached to the claim because it may explain the current result or identify another action.
Checking the status online is the clearest way to follow an App Store request for a refund. Starting another request for the same transaction can create confusion and will not replace the existing claim.
If the Purchase Is Missing
A transaction may be absent because a different Apple Account was used. Search your email for an Apple receipt or invoice, then check which account and item appear on it. If you use multiple Apple Accounts, sign out and check each account separately.
A pending charge cannot yet be selected for a refund request. Wait until Apple issues the receipt, then check the transaction list again. An unpaid order or payment-account issue may also prevent a refund option from appearing.
For a Family Sharing transaction, the family organizer can select the Apple Account control and choose “All” to look for purchases charged to the shared payment method. If the receipt belongs to another family member’s Apple Account, pay close attention to which account made the transaction.
The item may also be missing if the payment was handled outside Apple’s App Store or in-app purchase system. Check the receipt to identify the company that processed it. Apple’s refund form cannot manage a transaction billed by another provider.
Problems Signing In or Submitting the Form
If you cannot sign in, first confirm the Apple Account email address or phone number you are entering. Use Apple’s account-recovery options if you forgot the password, cannot receive a verification prompt, or the account is locked.
For a page that will not load or submit:
- Refresh the page and sign in again.
- Close extra browser tabs that contain another Apple Account session.
- Try a private browsing window or clear stored browser data for the page.
- Turn off a content blocker temporarily if it prevents menus or buttons from appearing.
- Try another supported browser or device.
- Check that the connection is stable before selecting “Submit.”
If “Request a refund” is unavailable, confirm that you selected the “I’d like to” menu and that the transaction appears under the signed-in account. A pending charge, missing receipt, different account, or transaction handled outside Apple may explain the missing option.
Contact Apple Support
Contact official Apple Support when you cannot access the correct Apple Account, the transaction remains missing after checking receipts and other accounts, or the refund form repeatedly fails. Support can also help when the type of refund you need cannot be requested through the online form.
Open {site} and choose the support path for App Store purchases, billing, or refunds. Use only the contact choices displayed by Apple.
Have these details ready:
- The Apple Account used for the transaction.
- The app or in-app purchase name.
- The transaction date and order identifier from the receipt.
- The device used for the transaction.
- A short description of what happened.
- Any error message shown by the form.
- The status of an existing request, if one was submitted.
Do not send your password or verification code. Apple Support may confirm account and transaction information, but a support contact does not promise that an App Store refund request will be approved.
