REMC Power Outage Status and Updates
Check the REMC Power Outage Map
REMC is used by multiple electric cooperatives, so start by confirming the name of the cooperative that serves your address. Check a recent electric bill, account notice, or other official service document if you are unsure.
Open {site} and look for a section labeled Outages, Outage Center, or Outage Map. The map may show affected areas, the number of services without power, incident status, or restoration information. Available details vary by cooperative.
- Find your community, county, or service location on the map.
- Zoom in if the map initially shows the cooperative’s entire territory.
- Select the outage marker or affected area to view its details.
- Check when the information was last updated.
An outage map may cover an area rather than identify individual properties. If nearby service locations are shown as affected, your loss of power may be part of that incident. Do not assume that every outage will appear immediately.
REMC Power Outages Today
For a REMC power outage today, check the outage map first and then review the cooperative’s official notices. Look for alerts, news updates, service messages, or emergency notices near the outage section of the site.
Official updates may include:
- The general area affected by an outage.
- The number of services currently affected.
- Whether crews have been assigned or are assessing the problem.
- A restoration estimate, when the cooperative has issued one.
- The time of the latest update.
Status details can change as crews inspect equipment and restore service. Refresh the official map or notice page periodically instead of relying on an older screenshot or a social media post shared by another person. If no restoration estimate appears, the cooperative may not yet have enough verified information to publish one.
This page does not display live outage data. The correct current status comes from the official REMC office serving your property.
How to Report an Outage
If your outage is not already reported, use the reporting method listed by your serving REMC. Open {site}, choose the outage section, and follow the official prompt to report lost electrical service. Depending on the cooperative, reporting may be available through an account portal, an automated reporting system, or direct contact with the local office.
Have the following information ready:
- The account holder’s name.
- The service address where power is out.
- The account number, if available.
- A reliable way for the cooperative to provide status updates.
- Any visible condition that can be described safely from a distance.
Report the service location, not merely your current location. This matters if you are away from the property or manage more than one account. Follow the reporting prompts carefully and wait for confirmation that the report was received. Avoid submitting repeated reports unless the cooperative requests another update or the situation changes.
If the Outage Is Not Listed
If the property has no power but the REMC power outage map shows no incident, first determine whether the problem is limited to the building. From a safe location, check whether nearby homes, outdoor lights, or common areas also appear to be without power.
Check the main electrical panel only if it is dry, undamaged, accessible, and safe to approach. A tripped breaker may indicate a problem inside the property. Do not touch the panel if you see water, heat damage, smoke, sparking, or exposed wiring. Contact a qualified professional when the issue appears to be within the building.
If neighbors also lack power, or the building checks do not explain the problem, report the outage to the correct REMC office. A new or small incident may not be visible on the map yet. Confirm that the service address on the report is accurate, especially in rural areas or where a mailing address differs from the electrical service location.
Get Outage Support
Use a recent bill or official account document to identify the REMC that serves the affected meter. Contact that cooperative through the verified outage option shown in the page’s contact block or its official outage section. Another REMC office may be unable to view or update your service report.
An outage report tells the utility that electrical service is unavailable at a location. It is not a substitute for emergency help. If there is a fire, a person is in immediate danger, or someone has received an electrical shock, move away from the hazard and contact emergency services.
Treat fallen or hanging lines as energized. Keep yourself, children, pets, and vehicles away. Do not touch a line, a person or object in contact with it, or anything that may conduct electricity. Report the hazard from a safe place using the appropriate official channel.
Prepare While Power Is Out
Keep the area around electrical hazards clear and use battery-powered lighting when possible. Never operate fuel-burning equipment indoors or in an enclosed area. Avoid opening refrigerators and freezers more than necessary, and unplug sensitive electronics if it is safe to do so.
- Keep a phone charged with a power bank or safe vehicle charger.
- Save the outage confirmation or reference information.
- Monitor the official map and notices for restoration updates.
- Follow any instructions issued by the serving cooperative or local emergency officials.
- Plan for medical equipment or other essential electrical needs using guidance from the equipment provider and local emergency resources.
A restoration estimate is an estimate, not a guarantee. Check the time attached to each official update and continue treating damaged electrical equipment and lines as hazardous after power returns.
