PECO Outage Reporting and Status
How to Report a PECO Outage
If your power is out, first check whether the problem is limited to your home. Look for power at nearby homes or streetlights, and check your electrical panel for a tripped breaker. Do not touch the panel if it is wet, damaged, unusually hot, or making noise.
PECO outage reporting is available online and by phone. An online PECO power outage report can usually be submitted with the primary phone number associated with the service account or the PECO account number. Have the service address available in case PECO asks you to confirm the affected location.
Report the outage even if nearby properties have also lost power. A visible outage on a map does not necessarily confirm that PECO has recorded the problem at your specific service address.
Report an Outage Online
To make a PECO report outage online, use PECO’s official outage-reporting tool:
- Open {site} and find the outage section.
- Select the option labeled Report an Outage or Report Outage.
- Enter the primary phone number associated with the PECO account. If the page offers an account-number option, select it to identify the account that way instead.
- Select Continue and follow the prompts to verify the affected service address.
- Review the information before submitting the report.
- Wait for an on-screen message confirming that the outage report was received.
Keep the confirmation page open or take a screenshot if your phone has enough power. If the tool says the outage has already been reported, you normally do not need to submit the same PECO outage report repeatedly. Move to the status tool to look for available updates.
You may not need a PECO online sign-in if the reporting page lets you verify service with an account phone number or account number. Use only information connected to the affected PECO service address.
Report an Outage by Phone
Phone reporting is appropriate when mobile data is unavailable, the online form will not load, you cannot complete account verification, or the automated page does not confirm submission. Call the verified official PECO outage number shown in the contact block above this article.
Follow the automated prompts and listen for a statement confirming that the outage was reported. Be ready to provide or verify the phone number on the account, the account number, or the service address. If the system cannot identify the location, follow its option for additional assistance.
Use the dedicated outage contact rather than an unrelated account-service channel. This helps route a routine PECO report power outage request to the correct system.
Check the Current Outage Status
After you report an outage to PECO, use the official Outage Tracker to check the report for your service location. Open {site}, go to the outage section, and select the option for tracking or checking an outage. Sign in to My Account or use another verification method offered on the page.
The tracker may show whether PECO is aware of the outage, restoration progress, and an estimated restoration time when one is available. Conditions can change, so treat any estimate as an update rather than a guaranteed deadline.
The public outage map provides a broader view of affected areas. Search for an address or location to see nearby outage information. The map is useful for area conditions, but account-level verification or a direct confirmation message is the stronger indication that PECO acknowledged the outage at your address.
If your power remains out after the map or tracker says service was restored, check the breaker once more if it is safe. Then submit another report or use the official outage contact to tell PECO that your location is still without power.
If the Outage Report Does Not Go Through
If you cannot complete a PECO report an outage request, try these steps:
- Confirm that the phone number entered is the primary number associated with the PECO account.
- Switch to the account-number option if the reporting tool offers it.
- Check entries for missing digits, extra spaces, or information belonging to a different service address.
- Reload the page once. If PECO reports temporary maintenance or an interruption, wait briefly and try again.
- Turn off a browser content blocker for the reporting page or try another browser.
- Move to a working Wi-Fi connection if mobile data is unavailable.
- Use the official outage phone contact shown above if the page will not load or no confirmation appears.
If you cannot sign in, look for the alternate account-verification method rather than delaying the report to reset unrelated account details. When neither internet nor cellular calling works, use a safe available phone belonging to a household member or neighbor.
Electrical Emergency and Safety Guidance
A normal loss of power can be reported through the routine PECO outage reporting options. Damaged electrical equipment or an immediate threat requires a different response.
Stay far away from fallen, sagging, or sparking wires. Treat every wire as energized, including a wire touching a tree, fence, vehicle, puddle, or building. Keep other people and pets away, and do not attempt to move the wire or anything touching it.
For a downed or sparking line or another hazard involving PECO equipment, use PECO’s verified emergency contact shown above. If there is a fire, visible smoke, an injury, someone trapped, or another immediate danger to life or property, leave the dangerous area and contact emergency services. Do not rely only on a routine online outage report.
If a wire falls on a vehicle, occupants should generally remain inside and avoid touching the vehicle and the ground at the same time while emergency help is requested. Leave only if staying creates a greater immediate danger, such as fire, and follow emergency responders’ instructions.
