Where to Find the Password Manager in Opera

The password manager in Opera is available through the browser’s Privacy and security settings. It lets you save, search, view, edit, and remove website login details.

  1. Open Opera on your computer.
  2. Select the Opera menu, then Settings. You can also press Alt+P on Windows or Linux.
  3. Select Privacy and security.
  4. Under Autofill and passwords, select Password Manager.

The Password Manager screen lists saved accounts by website. Use its search box if the list is long. Opera’s wording may vary slightly by version, so look for Password Manager or Passwords under Autofill and passwords.

How Do You View or Copy a Saved Password in Opera?

Opera hides each saved password until you choose to reveal or copy it. A saved login normally includes the website, username, and password.

  1. Open Settings, select Privacy and security, then open Password Manager.
  2. Find the website by scrolling or using the search box.
  3. Select the saved entry to open its details.
  4. Select the eye icon to reveal the password, or use the copy control beside the password.
  5. Complete the security confirmation requested by your computer.

Opera may ask for the password, PIN, fingerprint, or other sign-in method used to unlock the device. This confirmation is controlled by the operating system. It is not the password for the website whose login you are viewing.

If confirmation fails, make sure you are using the current device sign-in method. Opera does not provide a way to skip that protection.

How Do You Add or Edit a Saved Login in Opera?

You can save a login when Opera offers to remember it, or add an entry manually in Password Manager.

  1. Open Password Manager through Opera’s Privacy and security settings.
  2. Select Add.
  3. Enter the website address, username, and password in the labeled fields.
  4. Select Save.

To change an existing login, find and open its entry, select Edit, update the username or password, and save the change. Your computer may request device confirmation before showing or changing protected information.

Opera can also update a stored password after you change it on a website. Sign in with the new password, then select Update when Opera asks whether to replace the saved one. If Opera does not show that prompt, edit the entry manually and check that its website address matches the current login page.

How Do You Turn Opera Password Saving and Automatic Sign-In On or Off?

The controls for password prompts are inside Password Manager. Open its Settings section in the left sidebar, then review these options:

  • Offer to save passwords: When enabled, Opera asks whether to save credentials after a new login. When disabled, new passwords are not offered for saving, but existing entries remain stored.
  • Sign in automatically: When enabled, Opera may sign in with saved credentials without asking for confirmation on supported login pages. When disabled, saved credentials can still appear, but you must choose or confirm the account.

If a particular website never produces a save prompt, check whether you previously selected Never for that site. Remove the site from the declined or never-saved list if it appears there, then sign in again.

Turning off these settings does not delete saved logins. Delete an individual entry separately if you no longer want Opera to retain it.

How Do You Sync Opera Passwords Across Devices?

Opera Sync copies selected browser data between compatible devices signed in to the same Opera account. To sync saved logins, you need an Opera account, an active sign-in on each device, and password synchronization enabled.

  1. Open Opera Settings and find Synchronization.
  2. Sign in to your Opera account.
  3. Open Advanced sync settings.
  4. Select Sync everything, or choose the customized option and make sure Passwords is enabled.
  5. Sign in to the same Opera account on the other device and enable password syncing there.

Allow time for the first synchronization, then reopen Password Manager on the other device. If passwords are missing, confirm that both devices are online, use the same Opera account, and have Passwords selected in their sync settings.

A custom sync passphrase is an optional phrase used to encrypt synchronized data. If you previously created one, you must enter that same passphrase when Opera requests it; the Opera account password does not replace it.

What Do You Do If an Opera Saved Password Will Not Autofill?

A saved password may fail to autofill when automatic sign-in is disabled, the website changed its login page, or the saved entry uses an old address or username.

  1. Open Password Manager settings and confirm that password filling or automatic sign-in is enabled.
  2. Open the saved entry and compare its website and username with the current login page.
  3. Click or tap the username field and look for a list of saved accounts. Select the correct account manually.
  4. If the website recently changed its address or login form, edit the saved entry or save a new one for the current page.
  5. Confirm that you are using the expected Opera profile. Saved logins in another browser profile will not appear in the current one.
  6. Close and reopen the tab, then restart Opera if the login fields still do not recognize the entry.
  7. Update Opera if its menus or password controls are not working normally.

Some websites split the username and password across separate screens or use a custom login form. In that case, select the saved username on the first screen and check for the password suggestion after moving to the next screen.

How Do You Export Passwords from Opera?

Password Manager Opera settings include an export control that saves credentials as a CSV file. CSV is a plain-text table format, so anyone who can open the exported file may be able to read its contents.

  1. Open Settings, select Privacy and security, then open Password Manager.
  2. Select Settings in the Password Manager sidebar.
  3. Find Export passwords and select Download file.
  4. Complete the device security confirmation if prompted.
  5. Choose a secure location and save the CSV file.

Keep the exported file only as long as needed. Do not send it through ordinary email, leave it in a shared folder, or store it on a public computer. After completing the transfer or backup task, securely remove copies you no longer need and check the Downloads folder for an extra copy.
