Mon Power Outage Map and Service Status

Updated 2026-08-17 · 961 words

Open the Official Mon Power Outage Map

Open {site} and choose the Outages section. Select the option to view the outage map, sometimes identified as the 24/7 Power Center. If the site asks you to choose a state or electric company, select West Virginia and confirm that Mon Power is shown.

The official map should appear within Mon Power or FirstEnergy outage pages and include outage-reporting and safety options. Avoid relying on screenshots, social media reposts, or maps on unrelated sites because their information may be incomplete or outdated.

If the map does not load, refresh the page once. You can also close other browser tabs, turn off a content blocker for the page, or try another browser. During a widespread outage, a weak mobile connection may prevent map tiles or controls from appearing immediately.

Check an Outage Near Your Address

The Mon Power outage map provides a ZIP code search. Enter the ZIP code for the affected location and select the option to view it on the map. The map should move to that general area.

Depending on the version of the map displayed on your device, you may also be able to search or navigate in other ways:

  • Enter an address if an address field is available.
  • Search for a city or other named area if that option appears.
  • Drag the map toward your location and use the zoom controls.
  • Select West Virginia before searching if the map first asks for a state.

A ZIP code or city search shows the surrounding area, not necessarily the status of one exact property. Zoom in and select the outage marker nearest the address. If you need information tied to a particular service location, use the outage-information or reporting option and identify the address there.

Read the Map Symbols and Outage Details

Outage icons represent problem areas rather than individual homes. The absence of an icon directly over your house does not prove that Mon Power has not received your report.

Select or tap an outage icon to open its available details. Depending on what Mon Power has confirmed, the information panel may show:

  • The approximate outage area or the location of a problem-area marker.
  • The number or range of customers affected.
  • A status label describing the current stage of the response.
  • An estimated restoration entry, if an estimate is available.

Map shading, boundaries, clusters, and symbols can change as you zoom. A cluster may combine several nearby outage areas when the map is zoomed out. Zoom in before assuming that one symbol covers every address in a city or ZIP code.

An estimated restoration entry is an estimate, not a guarantee. It may be unavailable while the situation is being assessed or may change as more information becomes available. Use the details attached to the relevant map marker rather than applying a general area estimate to one address.

Report a Mon Power Outage

Report the outage even if a neighbor has already reported losing power. Each report gives the outage system more information about the affected area.

To report online, return to the Outages section and choose Report Outage. The official process may let you identify the service location through the phone number associated with it or by entering the address. Follow the prompts, confirm the correct location, and submit the report. Do not use a general email or contact form for an active power outage.

Have these details ready:

  • The street address where power is out, including any unit information.
  • A phone number where you can be reached.
  • Whether nearby properties appear to have power, if you can check safely.
  • Any prompt-specific location information needed to distinguish the property.

You may also report the outage by telephone using the verified outage contact shown on this page. Listen for the power-outage option and provide the requested location details. Do not approach electrical damage to investigate before making the report.

What to Do if Your Outage Is Missing

First, refresh the map and search again using the affected location’s ZIP code. Check that you selected West Virginia and entered the correct address or area. Then zoom in because a nearby marker may represent the problem affecting your service.

If the outage still does not appear, report it online or by telephone. A map marker is not required before you file a report. If you already submitted one, allow for a possible delay while reports are processed and map information is updated. Do not repeatedly submit the same report simply because the map has not changed.

If electricity has returned but the map still shows an outage, refresh the page. If only your property remains without power while nearby service is back, report that condition so Mon Power can associate it with the correct location.

Electrical Safety During an Outage

  • Stay far away from fallen or sagging power lines. Treat every line as energized, keep other people and pets back, and contact emergency services and the utility.
  • Do not touch damaged meters, service wires, utility poles, or electrical equipment. Do not move branches or debris resting on electrical equipment.
  • Operate a portable generator outdoors, well away from doors, windows, and vents. Never run one in a home, garage, basement, or other enclosed space.
  • Use generator connections exactly as the manufacturer and a qualified electrician direct. Never connect a generator in a way that can send electricity back onto utility lines.
  • If there is a fire, electric shock, sparking equipment, or another immediate threat to life, move to safety and contact emergency services.

Use the mon power outage map for area status, but never wait for a map update before responding to an electrical hazard. The same safety rule applies when searching for the monpower outage map on a phone during an active outage.
