To sign in to ID.me, open the official site, enter the email address and password for your ID.me Wallet, and complete multi-factor authentication. If ID.me blocks access, use the recovery option shown on the sign-in screen or contact official ID.me Support.
Where is the official ID.me sign-in page?
Open {site} and select Sign In. The official page should identify the service as ID.me and should not ask you to contact an unrelated support company.
If you searched for “idme.com sign in” or “idme.com login,” check the result carefully before entering an email address, password, or security code. Advertisements and look-alike pages can appear above the official result.
- Use a bookmark you previously saved from the official ID.me site when possible.
- Do not enter credentials on a page reached through an unexpected email or text message.
- Do not give a password or verification code to anyone offering to sign in for you.
- If the page looks unfamiliar, close it and start again from {site}.
ID.me Wallet is the account used to store your ID.me sign-in and verification information. An account at an agency or organization remains separate, even when that organization uses ID.me for access.
How do I sign in to my ID.me account?
Have access to the email address, password, and multi-factor authentication method connected to your ID.me Wallet. Multi-factor authentication, or MFA, is the extra security check completed after the password is accepted.
- Open the official ID.me sign-in page.
- Enter the email address associated with your ID.me Wallet and select Continue.
- Enter your ID.me password and continue.
- Complete the MFA prompt using a method already connected to the account.
- If you started on another organization’s site, review the information-sharing screen and follow its prompt to continue to that organization.
ID.me no longer supports signing in through a social account. Someone who originally used a social sign-in and has no ID.me password should select Forgot password? to create a password through the official reset process.
Do not create another wallet simply because the first login fails. A message about an existing or duplicate wallet can mean the verified wallet uses a different email address.
What if I forgot my ID.me password or email address?
Use the Forgot password? option after entering the email address associated with the wallet. ID.me sends reset instructions to that address.
- Enter the account email on the sign-in page and select Continue.
- Select Forgot password?
- Enter the email address again and continue.
- Check the inbox and spam or junk folder for the ID.me reset message.
- Use the newest reset message, set a new password, and then sign in with that password.
If no message arrives, confirm that the address was typed correctly and use the resend option displayed by ID.me. Old reset messages may stop working after a newer one is requested.
If you do not remember which email was used, check personal, work, and school inboxes for earlier ID.me messages. An existing-wallet message may display a partial email hint. Use that hint only if you recognize it; if you do not recognize the address, contact ID.me Support.
If you know the account email and password but cannot open that inbox, try the normal sign-in process. Email access is not always required for routine login. If password recovery or another security check requires the inaccessible inbox, use official support chat to recover the wallet.
What should I do if an ID.me verification code never arrives?
First confirm that you selected the MFA method already saved on the wallet. Then check the device’s signal or internet connection, make sure messages or notifications are not being blocked, and request another code only through the current ID.me screen.
- For a text or call method, confirm the displayed phone-number hint matches a number you can access.
- For an authenticator code, open the authenticator connected to ID.me and use its current code.
- For a push notification, open the authenticator app and check that the device is online.
- If another saved MFA method is offered and you still control it, select that method.
If the phone number changed, the device was lost, or no saved method works, select MFA recovery process on the Complete Your Sign In screen. Follow ID.me’s prompts to confirm ownership of the wallet and set up a new MFA method. Do not share an MFA code with a person claiming to be support.
What should I do if my ID.me account is locked or shows an error?
If the message says the wallet is locked after failed attempts, stop guessing passwords. Select the recovery link in the lock message, enter the wallet email address, and follow the unlock instructions ID.me sends by email. If the unlock message is no longer valid, request a new one from the lock screen.
For “Something isn’t right,” “Something went wrong,” or similar technical errors, try these steps in order:
- Check that the internet connection is stable.
- Update the browser to its current version.
- Clear the browser’s cache and cookies.
- Close the browser, reopen the official sign-in page, and try once more.
- If the error continues, try a different supported browser or device.
Repeated failures can make diagnosis harder and may trigger another security lock. Record the exact error wording and where it appeared, but do not send ID.me Support your password or security code.
How do I contact ID.me Support about login problems?
Open the ID.me Help Center and select Contact Support. If you can sign in, select Contact Support, sign in to the wallet, choose the issue that best matches the problem, and submit a detailed request.
If you cannot sign in, select Start Chat on the Contact Support page. Official chat can begin without wallet access and can guide you through the approved recovery process. If chat does not open, check for a pop-up blocker or try another device or network.
Include the account email address, the exact error message, the step where login stopped, and the troubleshooting already attempted. Never include the password or an MFA code. Current support channels and their availability appear in the verified contact block and the official Support Center.
