To open Google Password Manager, sign in with the Google Account that holds your saved passwords, then open Password Manager in Chrome, Android settings, or {site}. Google Password Manager may ask you to confirm your identity before it shows a password.

What is Google Password Manager?

Google Password Manager is Google’s built-in tool for saving, filling, and managing passwords and passkeys. A passkey is a sign-in credential that lets you use your device’s screen lock instead of typing a password.

The manager is available in Chrome, through a Google Account, and on Android devices. Passwords saved to a Google Account can be available on other devices where that same account is signed in. Some passwords may instead be stored only on one device or in a different Google Account.

Search results may call the service “google account password manager,” “password google manager,” or “google password manager.” These names generally refer to the same built-in Google password tool.

How do I log in to Google Password Manager on a desktop?

You can reach Google Password Manager from Chrome or through its official web page. Have your Google Account email address, password, and verification method ready.

To open Google Password Manager in Chrome:

  1. Open Chrome on your computer.
  2. Select the three-dot More menu in the upper-right corner.
  3. Select Passwords and autofill.
  4. Select Google Password Manager.
  5. If Chrome asks you to sign in, enter the Google Account that contains your saved passwords.

To use the web version, open {site}. Sign in with your Google Account if prompted. Google may require your account password, a passkey, or another verification step before displaying sensitive information.

If you use Chrome without signing in, you may see passwords stored locally on that computer. Those entries are not necessarily part of the Google Account password manager and may not appear on another device.

How do I log in to Google Password Manager on Android?

Google’s current Android instructions recommend finding Password Manager through the phone’s Settings search. Menu names can differ by Android version and phone maker, so searching is more reliable than following a fixed series of menus.

  1. Open the Settings app on the Android device.
  2. Tap the search field and search for Password Manager.
  3. Select Password Manager from the results.
  4. If an account selector appears, choose the Google Account that contains the passwords.
  5. Confirm your identity with the device screen lock when requested.

You can also open Chrome on Android, tap the three-dot More menu, select Settings, and then select Google Password Manager. On devices with Google’s Passwords shortcut app, opening that shortcut leads to Google Password Manager; the shortcut does not store a separate copy of your passwords.

How do I sign in with a different Google Account?

If saved passwords are missing, Google Password Manager may be showing the wrong Google Account. Passwords saved under one account do not automatically appear under another account.

On a desktop browser:

  1. Check the profile picture or initial in the upper-right corner.
  2. Select the account list.
  3. Choose the Google Account that was active when the password was saved, or select the option to add another account.
  4. Open Google Password Manager again and check the password list.

On Android, open Google Password Manager and look for the account picture or account selector near the top of the screen. Select the correct Google Account. If it is not listed, add that account to the device first, then reopen Password Manager.

If a password still does not appear, check Chrome on the original device. The password may have been saved only to that device rather than to a Google Account.

What should I do if I can’t log in to Google Password Manager?

A Google Password Manager login can fail because the Google Account email or password is incorrect, a verification prompt cannot be completed, the browser is using another account, or a work or school administrator controls the account.

  1. Check the email address carefully and make sure it belongs to the account that holds the saved passwords.
  2. If you forgot the password, use Google Account Recovery and answer the ownership questions as accurately as possible.
  3. If a verification code never arrives, check whether the displayed recovery email address or phone belongs to you, then choose Try another way when that option appears.
  4. Try recovery from a familiar device, browser, and location where you previously signed in. Google says this can help confirm account ownership.
  5. If the account belongs to a workplace, school, or other organization, contact its account administrator. Standard personal-account recovery steps may not apply.

Google does not provide telephone help for signing in to a personal Google Account and warns against services claiming they can recover an account. Never give a password or verification code to another person.

How do I check my saved passwords after logging in?

After you open Google Password Manager, the main screen shows saved sites and apps. Use the search field when the list is long.

  1. Search for the site or app name.
  2. Select the matching entry.
  3. Choose the eye-shaped Show password control if you need to read the password.
  4. Complete the requested identity check, such as entering the computer password or using the Android device screen lock.
  5. Use the displayed username and password, or return to the site or app and let Google Password Manager fill them automatically.

If several entries have similar names, check the username before using or changing anything. A missing entry may be under another Google Account, saved only on the original device, or never saved in Google Password Manager.
