How to Recover Your Google Email Password

Google cannot show a forgotten current account password, but you can reset it after Google verifies your identity. If you also forgot your Google email address, use Google’s username-recovery process before starting the password reset.
A password saved on a trusted device may be viewable after you unlock that device. That is different from asking Google to reveal the password stored for your account.
Can Google show your current password?
Google does not display the current password for a Google Account. Searches such as “google what's my password,” “what is my google password,” or “google what's my password for my email” do not lead to a feature that reveals it.
There are two separate options:
View a saved password: A password manager may have stored a copy on a device you previously used. You must pass the device or password-manager security check before viewing it.
Reset a forgotten password: Google verifies that the account belongs to you and then lets you create a new password. The previous password remains hidden.
Never give a password or verification code to someone claiming that they can look up the current password.
How do you find your Google email address?
If “google what's my email and password” or “forgot my google email and password” describes the problem, recover the email address first. Google may help identify an account using a recovery phone number or recovery email previously connected to it.
Open {site} and choose the option for a forgotten email or username.
Enter the recovery phone number or recovery email requested on the screen.
Enter the name associated with the Google Account.
Complete the identity check Google presents. If a code is offered, retrieve it only from the recovery method shown.
Review the matching account information that Google provides, then select the correct account.
Also check trusted devices before recovery. The email address may appear in Gmail, another Google service, the device’s account settings, or the profile menu of a browser where you are already signed in.
Check spelling carefully. A small error in the name, recovery address, or phone information can prevent Google from finding a match.
How do you recover a forgotten Google password?
To recover my Google email password, use Google’s official account-recovery flow. Account recovery is the process Google uses to verify ownership when the normal password no longer works.
Go to the Google sign-in screen through {site} and enter the recovered or known email address.
Select the option for a forgotten password.
Answer each prompt as accurately as possible. Google may ask for a password you remember, send a code to an available recovery method, or ask you to confirm the attempt on a device already connected to the account.
If Google offers another verification method, choose one that you can access securely.
After Google verifies the account, create a new password and store it safely.
The prompts depend on the account and the information available to Google. Not every user sees the same questions, and completing the process does not guarantee recovery.
How do you check for a saved Google password?
A search for “google what's my email password” may really mean that the reader wants to inspect a password previously saved in Google Password Manager or a browser. Only do this on a personal, trusted device.
Open Google Password Manager or the saved-password area in the browser’s settings.
Search the saved entries for the Google sign-in account.
Select the matching entry and use the available reveal control.
Complete the device security check, such as the device password, PIN, fingerprint, or face check, if requested.
Do not reveal the password while screen sharing, copy it into a message, or read it aloud where another person can hear. If the saved password fails, it may be old; use account recovery instead of repeatedly trying it.
What should you do if Google Account recovery does not work?
If the “find my google email password” approach does not work, first confirm whether the problem is the email address, the password, or access to a recovery method. Solving the wrong problem can create more failed attempts.
Try from a device, browser, and location you regularly used with the Google Account.
Check the full email address for spelling errors and make sure you selected the intended account.
Enter the most recent password you genuinely remember if Google asks for one.
Check that the recovery phone or email belongs to you and is still accessible.
Read every prompt before responding, and use another method only when Google offers it.
Avoid repeated random guesses. They do not prove ownership and can make it harder to keep track of accurate answers.
Do not use unofficial recovery services or share codes with anyone. No outside person can guarantee that Google will restore access.
How do you protect your Google Account after recovery?
After you recover your Google email password, secure the account before returning to normal use.
Create a new, unique password that is not used for another account. Make it long and difficult to guess.
Review the recovery phone number and recovery email. Remove details you no longer control and add information you can access securely.
Review devices signed in to the Google Account. Sign out devices you do not recognize or no longer use.
Check recent account security activity for changes or sign-ins you did not make.
Enable stronger sign-in protection offered in the account’s security settings, and keep backup access methods in a secure place.
Save the new password in a trusted password manager instead of placing it in an unprotected note or message.
