Can You Cancel an Order in the Shop App?

Shop does not control order cancellations; the store that accepted the order decides whether it can be canceled. To cancel an order on the Shop app, open the order and contact the merchant as soon as possible.

The Shop app displays order and delivery information, but the merchant is responsible for processing, shipping, canceling, and refunding the order. Sending a cancellation request does not mean the order has been canceled.

Do not use Delete or Archive as a substitute for cancellation. Those actions only remove or hide the order from your Shop order list; they do not tell the merchant to stop processing it.

How Do You Find an Order in the Shop App?

Use the Orders tab in the Shop app to find the order, review its status, and open the available contact options.

  1. Open the Shop app and sign in with the email address connected to the order.
  2. Tap the Orders tab.
  3. Find the store name or order you want to stop. Check both current and past orders if needed.
  4. Tap the order to open its details.
  5. Review the store name, order number, items, status, and any shipping information shown.

An Order placed status means the store has received the order but has not marked it as shipped. Waiting for details means Shop has detected the order but does not yet have complete information. Neither status guarantees that cancellation is still possible, because the store may already be processing the order.

If the status says Shipped, Partially shipped, In transit, Ready for pickup, or Picked up, include that information when contacting the merchant. The displayed status helps the merchant identify the situation, but only the merchant can explain the options available for that order.

How Do You Request Cancellation of a Shop App Order?

The verified way to request cancellation is to contact the merchant from the order details. Shop does not provide a general cancellation control that independently stops an order.

  1. Open the Shop app and go to the Orders tab.
  2. Select the order you want canceled.
  3. Tap Contact followed by the store name. If the contact choice is inside the more-options menu, open that menu first.
  4. Select an available contact method shown for the merchant.
  5. State clearly that you are requesting cancellation. Include the order number, the name and email used for the order, and the specific items involved.
  6. Keep a copy or screenshot of the message and any reply.

You can also reply to the confirmation email sent by the merchant. Use the same email account associated with the order and keep the order number in the message.

If the order page displays a cancellation choice supplied by the merchant, read the prompt carefully and follow it. Do not assume that Delete order, Archive order, Cancel return, or Start a return cancels an unshipped order; each performs a different action.

What Should You Do If There Is No Cancel Option?

If there is no cancel option on the Shop app order page, contact the merchant directly through Contact followed by the store name or by replying to the merchant’s confirmation email. The absence of a button does not transfer cancellation authority to Shop support.

If the merchant is already processing the order, explain that you want it stopped and ask what options apply. If some items have shipped, identify the unshipped items in your request. Do not send repeated requests through several channels at once unless the merchant instructs you to do so, because separate message threads can make the order harder to identify.

If the package has already shipped, cancellation may no longer be the right request. Ask the merchant what steps apply after shipment. A Start a return option, when displayed, concerns a return and is not proof that an order can still be canceled.

Shop support can help with technical problems in the app, but it cannot cancel an order, decide the merchant’s policy, or access information beyond what Shop displays.

How Do You Check the Cancellation Status?

A cancellation request is complete only when the merchant confirms it or the Shop app shows the order as Canceled. Do not treat a sent message, deleted tracker, or archived order as confirmation.

  • Open the order in the Orders tab and check its current status.
  • Look for Canceled, which means the merchant canceled the order and it will not be fulfilled.
  • Check the email account used for the order, including spam or junk folders, for a merchant confirmation.
  • Review the conversation opened through Contact followed by the store name.
  • Check the merchant’s own order messages if the merchant directed you there.

Shop may also display Partially refunded or Refunded when the store sends that information to Shop. A cancellation and a refund are separate updates, so do not infer one solely from the other. Response and refund timing depend on the merchant and cannot be confirmed by the Shop app.

What If You Cannot Access the Order in the Shop App?

If you cannot access the order, first confirm that you signed in with the email address associated with it. Shop uses connected email addresses as sources for order tracking, so an order may be missing when you use a different account or when the relevant email source is not connected.

  1. Check the confirmation email to identify the email address and order number.
  2. Sign out of Shop, then sign in again with the matching email address and complete the verification prompts.
  3. Check the Orders tab again, including past or archived orders.
  4. In the app’s account settings, review connected accounts and confirm that the relevant email source is connected.
  5. If the order still does not appear, reply to the merchant’s confirmation email and request cancellation directly.

If a sign-in code does not arrive, confirm that the email address was entered correctly, check spam or junk folders, and request another code through the sign-in screen. Do not share a verification code with a merchant or anyone who contacts you unexpectedly.

For an app error, failed sign-in flow, or missing interface control, open the Shop app’s help area or open the company’s official website and use the support prompts. Contact Shop support for the technical problem, but send the cancellation request to the merchant because Shop support cannot cancel a specific order.
