Bangor Power Outage Status and Reporting

Updated 2026-08-17 · 962 words

Check the Current Bangor Power Outage Status

Versant Power is the electric utility for most addresses in Bangor. To check the official Bangor power outage status, open {site}, choose Outages & Restoration, and select the Live Outage & Restoration Map.

On the Bangor power outage map, search for Bangor or zoom into the city and nearby communities. Select an outage marker to see the information currently available for that incident. You can also open the list of towns with outages for a simpler view that may load more easily on a phone.

If your address has no electricity but does not appear on the Bangor ME outage map, report it. A map marker only confirms that the utility has associated an outage with an area; it does not confirm the condition at every individual address.

Identify the Electric Utility for Your Address

Bangor is in Versant Power’s Bangor Hydro District. However, someone searching for a Bangor Maine power outage may be outside the city or at an address served by another utility.

Confirm the utility before submitting a report:

  • Check the company name on the electric bill for the affected property.
  • Ask the property owner, landlord, or building manager if the account is not yours.
  • Look at previous electric-service emails or account records.
  • Use the Maine Public Utilities Commission’s official utility information if the address is near a service-area boundary.

Contact the company that delivers electricity to the address, even if a different company supplies the electricity shown on the bill. A retail electricity supplier does not operate the local lines or restore service after an outage.

Report a Power Outage

For a Bangor power outage report, use Versant Power’s official online form or its outage telephone service. From {site}, select Report Outage or open Outages & Restoration and choose the reporting option. My Account customers can also sign in, find the Services tile, and select Report an Outage.

The online form can identify an account using the full account number or the telephone number associated with it. Depending on the report, it may also request:

  • The account holder’s name and service address.
  • A current contact number or email address.
  • The type of problem, such as no power, partial power, bright or dim lights, a tree on a line, sparks, or a wire down.
  • Details about the location and any visible danger.
  • Whether you want an automated callback when service is believed to be restored.

If you cannot report online, use the verified outage number displayed in the contact block on this page. The automated telephone system can accept an outage report and provide updates about known incidents. Keep the account number or service address ready. Do not use an email message for an urgent outage or electrical hazard.

Report the loss of power even if nearby homes are already listed. Your report helps connect the affected service address to the incident. If only your home is dark, first check the main breaker from a safe, dry location. Do not repeatedly reset a breaker that trips again.

Understand Outage Map Updates

The Bangor ME power outage map may show the approximate outage location, the number of affected customers, available restoration information, and changes as crews assess or repair the problem. An outage symbol may cover a broad area rather than mark the exact damaged equipment.

Affected-customer counts can rise or fall as reports arrive, circuits are switched, or one incident is divided into several repair jobs. Crew information may indicate that the utility is assessing damage, assigning resources, or working in the area. It does not show every crew movement.

An estimated restoration time is an estimate, not a guarantee. Early estimates may be unavailable while the cause and damage are being investigated. Weather, road access, additional damage, safety conditions, and the number of incidents can change the estimate. Refresh the Bangor power outage status periodically, but do not rely on the map for an immediate safety decision.

What to Do While the Power Is Out

  • Use flashlights instead of candles when possible.
  • Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed.
  • Unplug sensitive electronics and turn off appliances that were running. Leave one light on so you know when power returns.
  • Operate a portable generator only outdoors, well away from doors, windows, and vents. Follow its instructions and never connect it directly to household wiring unless approved transfer equipment was professionally installed.
  • Check on household members who rely on powered medical equipment and use the emergency plan provided by their medical professional.
  • Treat every fallen or low wire as energized. Stay far away, keep other people and pets back, and report it to the utility from a safe place.

Contact emergency services immediately for a fire, serious injury, life-threatening medical situation, or another immediate danger. Report downed wires, smoke, sparks, or damaged electrical equipment to Versant Power as well. Never approach a line to inspect it, move it, or determine whether it is live.

Get Outage Alerts and Restoration Updates

When filing a report online or through My Account, provide current contact information and choose the automated restoration callback option if offered. Review the entry before submitting it so the notification goes to the correct number.

After reporting through My Account, outage details may appear at the top of the account page. Use the official live map for wider Bangor power outage information, the town-outage list for community totals, and the Current Outage Alert page for utility notices during significant events.

If a restoration message arrives but the property still has no power, check breakers only if it is safe and report the continuing outage again. Buildings can have an individual service problem after the surrounding circuit has been restored. Keep account contact details current so future callbacks and account-specific updates can reach you.
