You cannot archive an Amazon order in the Amazon Shopping app because Amazon no longer offers the Archive Order feature. Updating the app or opening a hidden options menu will not make the command appear.

Amazon previously allowed eligible orders to be archived through its desktop website, but that option was discontinued in 2025. Older instructions that show an Archive Order button are now out of date.

What does archiving an Amazon order do?

Archiving was a way to remove a completed Amazon order from the default order-history view without erasing the order. It did not delete the purchase record, change the order’s status, or cancel anything.

An archived order remained connected to the Amazon account. When the feature was available, the account holder could open a separate Archived Orders view, review the order, and return it to the regular list by selecting Unarchive Order.

Archiving also provided limited privacy. It moved an order out of the main list, but someone with access to the same Amazon account could still find it through archived orders, searches, account activity, messages, or other records. It was never the same as permanently deleting an order.

Where is the Archive Order option in the Amazon app?

There is no Archive Order option in the current Amazon Shopping app. Opening Your Orders, selecting an order, and tapping the options icon will not reveal an archiving command.

Older guides sometimes describe a route through Your Orders, an order card, or an options icon. Some guides also suggest requesting the desktop version of Amazon in a phone browser. Those directions refer to an earlier website feature and should not be treated as current app instructions.

The phrases “archive order amazon app,” “archive amazon order on app,” and “how to archive order on amazon app” all lead to the same current answer: Amazon does not provide that control in the app.

How do you archive an Amazon order step by step?

There is no working step-by-step process for archiving a new Amazon order. To confirm that the feature is unavailable on your account, check the order controls as follows:

  1. Open the Amazon Shopping app and sign in to the account that contains the order.
  2. Tap the account or profile icon. The exact icon position can differ between app versions.
  3. Select Your Orders and locate the relevant order.
  4. Open the order details and review the available actions.
  5. Look for Archive Order only to verify whether Amazon has restored the feature for your account. If the command is absent, the order cannot be archived from the app.
  6. Do not treat removing an item from another list, dismissing a recommendation, or changing a notification as archiving. Those actions do not remove the order from order history.

If you are searching for “how to archive an amazon order on the app,” “how to archive an order on amazon app,” or “how to archive amazon order on app,” there is no additional confirmation screen to reach under the current system.

How do you unarchive an Amazon order?

Amazon’s earlier process placed archived purchases in an Archived Orders section and displayed an Unarchive Order control beside each one. Amazon has since removed the separate consumer archiving feature.

Previously archived purchases should be checked in Your Orders. Search for the item or use the available date filter for the period when the purchase was made. If the order appears in the normal history, no further action is required; it is already visible with the rest of the account’s orders.

If an older archived purchase cannot be found, first confirm that you are using the same Amazon account and the correct regional Amazon marketplace. Also widen the date range in Your Orders. The absence of an Unarchive Order button is expected after removal of the feature and is not necessarily an app error.

What should you do if the Archive Order option is missing?

A missing Archive Order option normally means the feature is unavailable, not that the app is damaged. Amazon staff stated in 2025 that customers could no longer archive orders and that there was no announced date for the feature to return.

  • Update the Amazon Shopping app if other menus or order details are not working correctly, but do not expect an update to restore archiving.
  • Confirm that you are viewing Your Orders for the correct account. Switching accounts can make an order seem missing.
  • Check {site} in a browser if you want to confirm the controls shown for your account. The browser may display a different layout, but the former Archive Order command is no longer generally available there either.
  • Ignore old tutorials that promise an Archive Order button after switching a mobile browser to desktop mode. Their screenshots may show a retired interface.
  • Use the app’s Customer Service area to send feedback if you want Amazon to know that the missing feature affects you.

Is archiving different in the Amazon app and on the website?

The Amazon app and website arrange account controls differently, but neither currently provides the former consumer Archive Order feature. The app uses touch-friendly profile and menu icons, while the desktop website generally places Your Orders among the account navigation controls.

  • In the app, order details open in a compact mobile screen, and available actions may appear as buttons or inside an options menu.

  • On the website, each order may appear as a larger card with several actions shown together.

  • Historically, archiving was associated with the desktop website rather than the Amazon Shopping app.

  • Currently, changing from the app to the website does not create a reliable way to archive a new order.

The practical difference is therefore layout, not archiving capability. If instructions show a desktop Archive Order button or a separate Archived Orders page, they describe the older version of Amazon’s order-history system.
