Apple App Refund: Request and Check Status
Start an Apple App Refund Request
Begin on Apple’s official “Report a Problem” page. You can find it by going to Apple’s website, opening the Support area, and searching for “request a refund.” Check that the page belongs to Apple before entering account information.
Sign in with the Apple Account used for the App Store purchase. Apple may ask you to confirm your identity with a trusted device, trusted phone number, or another security step. Have that device nearby if possible.
After signing in, look for the option to request a refund. Do not use subscription management, purchase cancellation, charge-dispute, or unauthorized-purchase tools as substitutes. Those options handle different problems.
- Open Apple’s official refund-request page.
- Sign in with the Apple Account connected to the purchase.
- Choose the option for requesting a refund.
- Follow the prompts to identify the purchase and submit the request.
Apple reviews the request and decides the outcome. Submitting an apple app refund request does not guarantee approval.
Select the App or Purchase
Use the first menu on the refund page to state that you want to request a refund. A second menu may ask why you are making the request. Pick the reason that most accurately describes what happened, then continue.
The page should display purchases connected to the signed-in Apple Account. Locate the app or in-app transaction by checking its name, transaction date, and order information. Similar app names can be confusing, so confirm the details before selecting anything.
Select the relevant item and submit the request. If several separate transactions are involved, review each one carefully rather than assuming that one selection covers all related charges. Save or capture the confirmation shown after submission. It can help you distinguish a completed request from one that was never sent.
If the item is a subscription charge, requesting an App Store Apple refund and managing the subscription are separate actions. A refund request does not necessarily change future subscription settings.
Check Your Refund Status
Return to Apple’s official “Report a Problem” page and sign in with the same Apple Account used to submit the request. Look for an option named “Check Status of Claims” or similar wording. It appears when that account has a request available to review.
Open the status area and select the request. The page may show that Apple is still reviewing it or that a decision has been made. Read the wording attached to the specific purchase, especially if you submitted more than one request.
If no status option appears, first confirm that you used the correct Apple Account. Also check whether the original submission reached a confirmation screen. Do not submit repeated requests merely because a decision is not yet displayed.
Use the status shown in Apple’s system as the current result. A confirmation message means the request was received, not that it was approved. The page should show the outcome when Apple completes its review, but no particular decision date should be assumed.
If the Purchase Is Missing
A missing purchase often means the wrong Apple Account is signed in. Check Apple receipts or purchase-history information to identify the account connected to the transaction. Then sign out of the refund page and sign back in with that account.
The charge may also still be pending. A pending transaction might not be available for a refund request because it has not finished posting. Check the purchase history again after Apple displays the transaction as completed.
Family Sharing can create another mismatch. A family organizer may see payment activity, while the purchase belongs to another family member’s Apple Account. The person who made the purchase may need to sign in with that account to locate it.
Also make sure you are looking for the exact transaction. An app download, an in-app purchase, and a subscription charge can appear as separate entries. Review the receipt or purchase history instead of relying only on the name shown by a bank.
- Confirm which Apple Account received the purchase receipt.
- Check whether the transaction is still pending.
- Ask whether a Family Sharing member made the purchase.
- Match the app name, date, and order details.
Restore Access to Your Apple Account
If you cannot sign in, use Apple’s official account-recovery process. Go to Apple’s website, open the account sign-in area, and choose the option for a forgotten password or inaccessible account. Follow the identity-verification prompts shown there.
Use a trusted Apple device when one is available. It may provide a direct way to reset the password or confirm your identity. Enter only information you recognize, and never give a verification code or password to someone who contacts you unexpectedly.
Account recovery and an app refund are separate processes. Regaining access does not create a refund request automatically. After access is restored, return to Apple’s official refund page, sign in, and either submit the request or check its status.
Contact Apple Support
Contact official Apple Support if the purchase remains missing after you check the account, pending status, and Family Sharing; if the refund page produces an error; or if the displayed status is unclear. Use the Support section of Apple’s own website and choose the category for billing, App Store purchases, or refunds.
Before starting, have the Apple Account email or identifier, app name, transaction date, order or receipt number, and any confirmation from the submitted request ready. Describe whether you are trying to submit a new request or review an existing one.
Do not send your password, full payment credentials, or verification codes. Support may explain the correct official path or clarify an entry associated with your account, but the refund decision remains part of Apple’s review process.
