Before You Add an Account

Make sure you are using the MySynchrony mobile app for credit card accounts issued or serviced by Synchrony. The separate Synchrony Bank app may use a different sign-in and account setup process.

If you already manage an eligible account online, have your existing username and password ready. Synchrony uses one sign-in to manage participating accounts, so creating another profile may not be necessary.

For an account that has not been registered, Synchrony may ask for:

  • The full Synchrony account number from the card, billing statement, or card mailer
  • The last four digits of the primary account holder’s Social Security number
  • The primary account holder’s date of birth
  • Access to the email address or mobile device associated with the profile

Enter details exactly as they appear in Synchrony’s records. Registration is for the primary account holder. An authorized user or joint account holder may not be able to create a separate sign-in for the account.

How to Add an Account in the Synchrony App

If the account is already registered, open the app and sign in with the username and password connected to it. Participating accounts associated with that sign-in may appear automatically.

If an eligible account is missing, use this officially documented process:

  1. Sign in to your Synchrony account manager in the app.
  2. Look for the option labeled Add Synchrony Account to Manager.
  3. Select it and follow the prompts to associate the missing account.
  4. Enter the account and identity information requested on the screen.
  5. Review the account information that Synchrony displays.
  6. Confirm the details and continue until a confirmation message appears.

If you cannot find the account-management option in your version of the app, open {site}, sign in, and look for Add Synchrony Account to Manager there. Accounts linked to the same profile should then be available under that sign-in.

Users searching for how to add an account to Synchrony app should not use the payment-method menu. That menu adds a bank account for payments; it does not link another Synchrony credit account to the account manager.

How to Add a Synchrony Card

Adding a Synchrony card generally means adding the card’s credit account. It follows the same account-linking process: sign in, select Add Synchrony Account to Manager, provide the requested details, verify the account, and confirm it.

If the card account has never been registered, select Register on the app’s sign-in screen. Synchrony’s published registration sequence asks you to enter the account number, the last four digits of the primary account holder’s Social Security number, and date of birth. Review the account shown, include any other eligible accounts offered during registration, create the requested profile details, accept the terms, and continue to confirmation.

Some retail card accounts must be registered through that retailer’s account sign-in page. Some Synchrony accounts are excluded from the combined account manager. If the app directs you elsewhere or does not offer the card, follow the account-specific instructions rather than repeatedly registering it.

This is also the answer to how to add a card to Synchrony app: add the card account to the Synchrony account manager, unless the card’s own instructions require a separate servicing page.

Adding Multiple Accounts

During a first-time registration, Synchrony may identify more than one eligible credit card account and let you include additional accounts in that one-time setup. Review each account before accepting it.

To add accounts to your Synchrony app later, sign in and select Add Synchrony Account to Manager again. Complete the prompts for each missing eligible account. You do not have to register every account at once.

Once accounts are associated with the same profile, use the account manager or the app’s account list to select the account you want to view. Return to that list to switch to another linked account. The exact position of the selector can vary by app version, but each choice should show enough account information to distinguish the accounts.

If the Account Cannot Be Added

Check these points before contacting support:

  • Personal details do not match: Use the primary account holder’s information exactly as recorded by Synchrony. A changed name, address, or other outdated record may require support.
  • The account is unrecognized: Recheck every digit against the card or latest statement. Make sure the account is issued or serviced by Synchrony.
  • The card is already linked: Sign out and use the username connected to the existing profile instead of trying to register the card again.
  • The account does not appear: Look for Add Synchrony Account to Manager after signing in. Some accounts are excluded from the combined sign-in system.
  • The wrong person is registering: Synchrony states that registration is limited to the primary account holder.
  • The app shows an error: Close and reopen it, confirm that the device has a working connection, and install any available app update. You can also try the account manager through {site}.

If an account appears that is not yours, do not open or manage it. Contact Synchrony using the service information on your card or statement.

Recover Access to the App

On the sign-in screen, select Forgot Username if you cannot remember your username. Follow the identity-verification prompts to retrieve it. If you know the username but cannot sign in, select Forgot Password and follow the prompts to reset the password.

Synchrony also provides a security-question reset option for users who cannot remember their answers. Use the recovery choices shown with the consumer account sign-in, not a registration form for a different card or banking product.

A password manager or device autofill can insert an old username or password. Clear the filled fields and enter the recovered details manually before trying again.

Contact Synchrony Support

For account-linking or registration help, use the customer service contact printed on the back of your Synchrony card or on the billing statement. This routes the request to the team serving that specific account. Synchrony’s official Contact Us section also directs customers to account support, and a chat option may be offered on the sign-in screen.

Have the card or statement available. Be prepared to identify yourself as the primary account holder and provide the account and personal details the representative requests. Never send a full Social Security number, password, or security answers through an unverified message or contact.
